Curious to see what goes into the making of our award-winning window displays?
First, our display team sketch ideas based around our autumn concept until they find one they think our customers will love. They then get to work applying vinyl to countless pieces of floor, backing boards and in-store signage to create the foundations on which their designs will sit. This is a meticulous process as the vinyl must be applied very carefully to avoid bubbling (if you’ve ever applied a screen cover to your phone, you’ll know the struggle).
Once the background is completed the team get to work crafting each of the props featured in the window – when the project is a big one, such as Christmas, we may call in reinforcements. They do all this in a workshop on site at our Ipswich store, filled to the brim with mementos of their past window designs. While each of our stores has the same campaign, the team interpret the design differently depending on the unique personality of each of our stores.
Prior to the campaign launch, when the shop is closed, the team begin stripping out the existing window and updating it with the new season design. This takes the team over a day to complete and, this season, involved hand-tying vibrant string of ribbon from the floor to the ceiling. We love the effect it gives and you can see the design showcased now in our stores.
