The Christmas windows have been unveiled, full of festive treats, colourful reindeer and sparkling snow. This year we are mixing up a very traditional story and saying “move over” to Rudolph as this Christmas is the time to shine for the other eight reindeer. Each reindeer portrays a different personality and style to celebrate their individuality.
The reindeer can be seen in the windows at our Ipswich, Felixstowe and Maldon shops as well as within the stores in different departments. Aside from the Santa’s herd you can also see an array of stars, carrots, baubles, snow and sparkling lights. Also featured is the photography from our latest photoshoot, an array of festive fashion and Christmas gift ideas.
In our feature window at Ipswich you will see our amazing competition. ‘Win the Window’ is the biggest Christmas competition we have ever had, and the total prize value is over £7,000. To enter come in-store to Maldon, Felixstowe or Ipswich, sign up to our loyalty scheme and fill out an entry form. Visual merchandising manager, Sonja, and the rest of the display team have been working on the windows since June when the initial idea of the campaign was finalised. Since then, they have been creating and sourcing all of the props, with some of the reindeer taking up to 5 days to create and bring to life. They had an extra challenge with transferring the vinyl onto the sleigh and the reindeer as usually they use a harder material which they can wet to move the transfers around once they are laid. However, with the deer being made from honeycomb board, which cannot be moistened, they had to get it right on the first attempt.
The display team create a lot of the props here in our workshop but for the ones they source they try to use local businesses such as the Pightle Barn in Stowmarket. Some of the props we had to source from elsewhere, such as the snow from Snow Business. Snow Business are renowned for providing winter effects for film sets such as Narnia, James Bond & Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The reindeer themselves were uniquely commissioned by our display team from Germany. Sonja and the team worked closely with them to get the design perfect for our windows.
