Sarah: Lushtums Pregnancy Yoga3 min read

Hi, I’m Sarah and I teach Lushtums pregnancy yoga at DanceEast on Ipswich’s waterfront. I’ve recently moved to Ipswich, previously living and teaching Lushtums pregnancy yoga in Brighton and, before that, living in London.  We moved to the area to be closer to family, but it seems that we’ve picked a good time to come as there are lots of exciting things happening in Ipswich at the moment.

It’s also great to be bringing Lushtums pregnancy yoga to a new audience. I decided to train as a pregnancy yoga teacher with Lushtums after going to classes in Brighton during my first pregnancy. Yoga has been something I’ve loved since my early 20s, but it was during my first pregnancy that something clicked into place.   It was so helpful, both during my pregnancy and the birth of my daughter, that when I saw that they were starting a teacher training school I knew this was something I felt really passionately about and signed myself up.

Pregnancy yoga has so many benefits – mums-to-be can take some much needed time to relax and connect with their baby, while the postures create space to breathe and help alleviate any pregnancy related ailments. We include relaxation exercises in every class so that you leave feeling whole again and ready for the week ahead. And before you ask, you don’t need to be bendy! Our focus is on gentle stretching and relaxation, and each class is specifically tailored to the needs of the students attending.

This month also sees a new antenatal education workshop for mums-to-be and their birthing partners, to help answer all those questions that need answering before the birth so that they feel confident and empowered on their journey. It’s exciting being able to bring these courses to the people of Ipswich.

Ipswich is a great place to live. Christchurch Park is just round the corner from where I live with my husband and two young children, and is a favourite place to spend time with the kids, or to take part in the local parkrun. Coes is also a short walk, which is very handy for special gifts (and my husband is a big fan of the menswear department). St Peter’s Street is another favourite – we usually head straight to Applaud for their amazing coffee and delicious food (and also a great place to see local art and take part in craft events).  Rose House Butchery, Myrtle and Mint flowers and LOVEONE are just some of the independent shops you should check out. Plus, Purity Beauty should be on every pregnant lady’s list as their treatments include pregnancy massage. Not to be missed! And if you are looking for a lovely child-friendly café, head to La Tour Cycle café. And it’s just a short drive out of town to the pretty coastal towns of Orford, Aldeburgh, Felixstowe and Woodbridge.   We are spoilt for choice!

Please take a look at the Lushtums website for more details of my classes and workshops.

And join the Lushtums community on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
