With 2015 now under way, new stock is already arriving in-store for spring and we’re more than happy to welcome the familiar light and bright hues that typify the season. Catwalks have shown a fun and playful approach to this year’s sunnier months, which means we will soon be saying goodbye to the rich berry and earthy tones of autumn/winter and welcoming a whole host of new styles. If you’re looking out the window thinking ‘spring seems like a long way off!!’ we would probably be inclined to agree with you! Nevertheless, it won’t be long until Easter comes around again and we are all looking to ditch the woolly jumpers and padded winter coats.

So what exactly can you expect to see gracing the stores this spring?

Women

  1. Denim 2.0:
Although denim might not be new, this season designers are really putting their stamp on the classic jean – think lots of tailoring, flattering washes and exceptional attention to detail. And it doesn’t just stop with jeans, denim jackets and shirts are all brought up-to-date for the new season. For the adventurous, there will also be lots of rips, patches and bedazzling, so you can choose understated, outlandish and every style in between!Blog_NYDJ Jeans Denim
  2. Subtle Nod to the 70’s:
We often see a retro revival popping up each spring, just in time for festival season, and this year is no exception. Expect to see elements of 70’s style being channelled through boho dresses, flares, fringing, clashing florals and, this year’s fabric of the moment, suede. When it came to the catwalk, Emilio Pucci, Saint Laurent and Alberta Ferretti had this look down to a tee!Blog_70s
  3. Utilitarian:
Military inspired fashion continues this season, with camo, pockets, eyelets and khaki featuring heavily on the catwalks at the tail end of last year. Marc Jacobs, Rag and Bone and Ralph Lauren have all championed this look for spring 2015, providing a great way to transition from the current cold spell to the warm spring weather.
  4. Romantic:
It wouldn’t be spring without frothy fabrics, serene pastels and flowing silhouettes gracing every high-street shop…and we can’t wait for this year’s fix! This season’s hottest styles are floaty, white and feature beautiful chiffon and tulle à la Lanvin, Celine and Dior.Blog_Romantic
  5. Bold Florals:
This season’s most popular print is, without a doubt, florals. Previous seasons have seen delicate flowers adorn everything from dresses to footwear but this season designers pay homage to bold, colour drenched, patterns that make your outfit sing. Blog_Florals
  6. Other trends to look out for:
Gingham, culottes, nautical tops and off the shoulder styles.

Men

  1. Foliage:
Whether you want to stand out or blend in, there is a floral print for every man this season. This may seem like an odd statement to make, but designers have transferred this seemingly feminine print onto items such as men’s tees and swim shorts to create a plethora of cheeky, tropical prints that will have you dreaming of sunnier shores. Green foliage prints are equally as popular, with punchy palm prints having featured in many designers’ catwalk collections.Blog_MensFlorals
  2. Stripes:
This spring, expect to see high street stores brimming with tailored staples adorned with stripes – especially the Breton style. This classic nautical look has a relaxed feel and is exceptionally easy to wear – perfect for those that sometimes find it hard to incorporate new season trends into their wardrobe. French riviera blue and red stripes look to be particularly popular, with Topman, Emporio Armani and Marc Jacobs all including similar looks in their spring offering.Blog_Stripes
  3. Denim:
While we’re used to it providing a solid foundation for our outfits, denim is set to take centre stage in SS15. When it came to the catwalk, Tom Ford did double denim in the slick and stylish way only he knows how, giving the 90’s classic a stylish revamp.Blog_Denim
  4. Red:
As we head into summer, expect to see intense red shades across the board. The introduction of bright red hues marks the end of the colder months and adds a bit of vibrancy to the pastel palette of spring. Wear this colour loud and proud or anchor it with neutrals for a more wearable look.Blog_Red
  5. Shorts:
This season, men’s shorts are the epitome of summer fashion – adorned with lively prints and bold brights, they are guaranteed to make a statement! From board shorts to tailored styles and technical fabrics, these will be your go-to item for hot summer’s days.
  6. Other trends to look out for:
Peaches, pastels, playful prints and relaxed fits
