Today sees the launch of our Autumn/Winter campaign. Our windows, website and social media will be layering up with options and ideas for the perfect outfits that will see you through from pumpkin-spiced autumn evenings to sitting by the fire in the cold winter nights.
This autumn we are helping you prepare for seasonal change by championing the art of layering. Seasonal changes affect what you wear and how you wear it, but do we really need four separate wardrobes? Combining different garments with multiple layering options creates a vast variety of outfits for all events, weather and eventualities. Practically, layering is the perfect way to balance your temperature in the cooler months as you can shed or increase the amount to fit the changing weather. However, as well as keeping you warm layering also gives you the opportunity to experiment creatively with different styles and looks. To pull together the outfits for our models, our stylists considered how combining different materials, textures and colours can compliment your figure, look stylish and be perfectly transitional from autumn to winter.
Our new season collection, as always, offers a wide variety of high quality brands from Ted Baker, to Meyer and even Ralph Lauren (only available in store). You can shop the whole look of luxurious layers or combine certain items that catch your eye with your old wardrobe favourites to give them a new lease of life.
The 7 steps of layering:
1. Colour is key
The colours chosen are important as they’ll be visible regardless of how many layers are on top.
2. Focus on Fabrics
A mix of texture is essential for layering.
3. Play with Proportion
Proportion is everything when it comes to layering. Dare to mix it up.
4. One Bulky Item Only
The key is to keep most of the layers on the lighter side and mix in one big piece, whether it’s a chunky sweater, a duffle coat or a beautiful cashmere scarf.
There is no end to the number of combinations you can create with a carefully selected wardrobe of colours, textures and patterns.
Consider how your outfit will look with layers subtracted or added.
Add glasses, hats, jewellery, belts, shoes, scarves etc to all outfits to personalise.
